This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11.31 (September 2008) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Note: On the HP-UX 11i v3 operating system, Online Diagnostics does not support tape drives. Although some of the Support Tools Manager (STM) tools may work with tape drives, they are not supported. The diagnostic tools and utilities that support these devices are HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools (L and TT). These tools are available at:

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Defect Fixes

This section describes the defect fixes and changes made to STM for the current release.

The following information applies to both Itanium Processor Family (IPF) and PA-RISC systems:

  Online Diagnostics supports the following FCD 8G cards:
  • AH400A (1 Port 8Gb Qlogic Standup) -> New PCI-Express standup HBA’s
  • AH401A (2 Port 8Gb Qlogic Standup) -> New PCI-Express standup HBA’s
  • 451871-B21 (Dual Port 8Gb Qlogic Mezzanine) -> New Mezzanine HBA for HP- Bladesystem
• QXCR1000752262
  Whenever a PCI I/O card is added or removed from the system, a manual remap has to be done. This issue is now fixed. STM reflects the changes in the system map automatically within 30 minutes.

  Online Diagnostics supports the following FCLP 8G cards:
  • AH402A (1 Port 8Gb Emulex Standup)->New PCI-Express standup HBA’s.
  • AH403A (2 Port 8Gb Emulex Standup)->New PCI-Express standup HBA’s.
  • 456972-B21(Dual Port 8Gb Emulex Mezzanine)->New Mezzanine HBA for HP-Bladesystem.
• QXCR1000807819
  If the diagmond tries to operate on the socket name when the socket is in a blocked state, the getsockname() function fails with errno set to EINTR. As a result the diagmond daemon terminates. This issue is now addressed. Since procuring a socket is critical for the diagmond daemon, the system call is invoked five times.

You can report defects related to STM by filing a request on Quality Index eXchange Product Change Tracking (QuIX-PCT). If you do not have access to QuIX-PCT, contact your local HP representative to file a defect on your behalf.
