This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v2 (December 2008) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Defect Fixes

The following defects are fixed for the HP-UX 11iv2 December 2008 release and is supported on HP Integrity systems:

• QXCR1000742542
  The /var/stm/data/sensor_sdr_data file has incorrect permissions. This issue is now fixed.
• QXCR1000741320
  The System Information Tool generates the following report for all fields on an rx7640, which has one cell installed:
  Hardware path: system
  Product ID : N/A
  Current Product Number : N/A
  Original Product Number : N/A
  System Firmware Revision : N/A
  BMC Revision : N/A
  System Serial Number: : N/A
  System Software ID : N/A
  ...
  This issue is now fixed. The System Information Tool now runs successfully on a single cell based rx7640 server.
• QXCR1000746823
  The product ID string for the SAS adapter is long and does not reflect the product qualifier. This issue is now fixed. The product ID string for the SAS adapter is now shortened to display the product qualifier used for distinguishing the SAS adapter cards.
• QXCR1000749824
  The msamon monitor supports MSA60 and MSA70 Enclosures.
• QXCR1000845380
  The product string for the following storage devices have changed from:
  • HPHSV300 to HP EVA 4400
  • HPHSVX700 to HP EVA VS
  • HSV210 to HP EVA 8100
  • HSV200 to HP EVA 6100/4100

• QXCR1000800036
  cstm takes longer time to build the map when the following model(s) are attached to the system:
  • HITACHIOPEN-V
  • HITACHIDISK-SUBSYSTEM
  • HITACHIOPEN-V-CM
  • NEC iStorage

The following defects are fixed for the HP-UX 11iv2 December 2008 release and is supported on both HP Integrity and HP 9000 systems:

• QXCR1000746805
  A new functionality is added to the SAS adapter, which lists the SAS HBA specific information.

Known Problems

Following are the known problems and workaround for the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2008 release:
Known Problem
Starting with HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release of Online Diagnostics, the format of the contents in the System Activity Log file is enhanced. As a result, the System Activity Log file from an earlier release of Online Diagnostics may not be supported.
Workaround
Remove the unformatted System Activity Log files from the /var/stm/logs/sys/ directory. The System Activity Log files are created dynamically during the next system activity in the upgraded environment.
